Singapore Hawkers’ Seminar & Awards 2024

About 190 participants attended the Singapore Hawkers’ Seminar & Awards 2024 held at Tampines Hub Central Plaza on 4 November 2024.  The theme for this year is “Honouring Tradition, Inspiring the Future”.

The event aims to celebrate the rich heritage and traditions of the past while echoing their influence to inspire and empower future generations to carry them forward in innovative ways. At the same time, it also inspired community engagement, encouraged community participation and involvement in cultural activities and initiatives, strengthening social cohesion and pride in shared heritage

Nine hawkers were recognised for their contributions to Singapore’s food heritage. The award spans three categories: Hawker Heritage Award, Enterprising Hawker Award and Outstanding Hawker Mentor Award.

Organised by The Federation of Merchants’ Associations, Singapore (FMAS) and supported by the National Environment Agency (NEA), the seminar and awards saw Guest of Honour, Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment, Dr Koh Poh Koon, unveil new policies aimed at ensuring a vibrant and sustainable hawker scene.

Among the highlights was the inaugural Favourite Hawker Centre Award, voted for by the public. Serangoon Garden Market clinched the title, lauded for its “vibrant atmosphere and diverse food choices”.
